Yay……… I’m back!
After a 10 week gap I have finally been out for a run.
It may have been short, it may have been slow, it may have been miserable weather but oh my, it was fantastic! 😊
I have never been a particularly good runner, and it has rarely felt easy. My lungs always seem to be fighting to cope. But I have come to absolutely love running. Being outside (I find treadmills too boring), enjoying the views, feeling at one with the world – what’s not to like?
I run in all weathers – sunny warm days are glorious, but actually, some of my favourite ‘feel good’ runs have been in wind and rain – there’s nothing quite like being open to the elements to make you feel alive. Arriving home and having a good shower, the healthy glow (quite literally as I tend to turn beetroot when I run 😊) and natural high sets me up for the rest of the day and helps me to sleep at night.
Most of the time I run alone as it’s just easier and more convenient – I put on my gear, step outside my gate and run, without having to pre-arrange a particular time. However, I do also like to run with friends and have had some great adventures with them. Although my solo running is nearly always on tarmac, group running is a mixture of on and off-road, and is always a lovely social event.
If any of you are tempted at all to put on some trainers and give it a go ……… do it! Get outside and do it for yourself. You don’t need to run far or fast, you don’t need to compete with anyone else, or conform to some standard set by anyone else; just do it for you.
Now that I’m back, I shall be building up my fitness again. Follow my progress on this blog.
