What we do

This Week’s ‘Must Read’

The Wild Silence

I have just finished reading ‘The Wild Silence’ by Raynor Winn. Having enjoyed ‘The Salt Path’ (Raynor’s first book) so much, this one had an awful lot to live up to.

I do not want to include any spoilers in this review, so I will just say that it does not disappoint.

Not only does the reader get an answer to “what happened next?”, but we also gain a far deeper understanding of Ray and Moth’s characters, drivers and of their relationship – with each other and also with the natural world. Throughout the book we are treated to beautiful, insightful descriptions and such vivid imagery that we almost feel that we are there, amongst nature’s magical countryside, experiencing life’s pain and beauty along with Moth and Ray.

As with it’s predecessor (which, in my opinion, really needs to be read first),The Wild Silence’ is a book worth a space on your bookcase – you  will want to read it again!

Definitely recommended.

I love the idea of sharing book recommendations. I will put The Salt Path on my wish list and maybe borrow The Wild Silence from you when I’ve read that?
I recently read Jo Jo Moyes The Girl you Left Behind and enjoyed it much more than I expected to.
Lovely story set in two time periods about 100 years apart. It starts out with the WW1 German occupation of a French village. The painting of a young wife by a husband who is away at the front, is admired by a German officer. Jump to the modern day follow up about a court case over the ownership of the painting and a love story between protagonists on opposite sides.
