What we do

A Lovely Day Out

Sometimes, the happiest times are those which happen almost spontaneously. That’s certainly what happened this week:

With the weather forecast for the week being mainly wind and rain, with lower temperatures than of late, we decided to make the most of the one favourable looking day…….

Having met up with some good friends, we started with a take-away coffee and admired the estuary at Appledore in Devon. Having fueled ourselves up, we set out on a circular walk around Northam Burrows. The weather was amazing, the views were wonderful and we all enjoyed each others company – there was certainly plenty of chatting as we walked.

For the majority of the way, the beach was virtually empty, and we were able to enjoy a real sense of freedom. It was not until we were nearly at the Ho itself that we came across a few more people enjoying the views.r mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

Sitting in a handy pub garden, we then enjoyed a tasty lunch and continued with our walk. This section began by following the road out of Westward Ho!, before then retracing our steps along the coastal path to complete our walk. Arriving back in Appledore we finished off with another coffee (this time accompanied by cake!), before climbing back into our cars for the journey home.

Tired and happy (and with very full stomachs), we had all experienced a wonderful day out. And made some lovely memories too.

.* The exclamation mark is not included in error – Westward Ho! was named after a book by Charles Kingsley and is the only town in the UK to include the exclamation mark in its name.
